UNIVERSITY CHILDREN'S GARDEN

PROJECT

As a Professor at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville I taught numerous courses in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design and Construction. I also had the honor of designing and then constructing through my courses several features in the Children's Garden section of the UT Gardens.

A large teaching pavilion anchors the west end with a huge sloping roof, shaded activities area, sliding barn door storage area, and a demonstration rain barrel.

Adjacent to this is a child-sized playhouse with barnwood interior and a demonstration green roof!

These playful yet very functional elements are used continually for area school classes, private parties, and general play.

It was a joy to lead this effort and a challenge to build them but it was all worth it. This will be enjoyed for many years to come by children from all over east Tennnessee.
